Branding Your Church

“He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.’” - Mark 16:15
That is pretty much the goal of every church, to tell the word. He does say "go into all the world" and the internet and pop-culture have become a very big part of that world. While we are not to be of the world, Jesus does pray that we are not taken out of the world, John 17:16 says, "My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it."
So the question now is how do we create branding and websites that attracts new people to our congregation? It's pretty simple, you use the styles and formats of the world, but make sure the message is clear.
Your church logo should be straight to the point. What is your organization, It's a church! But your mission is to go and tell so you don't have to use the same old logo icons every church uses. Your church fills a specific need in your community, what need are you meeting? Try to make your church logo based upon that specific need that you fill. Your community will then understand exactly the goals of your church and help you connect with the people you are trying to reach!
So this is a big one. Your church needs a website. You also need to be indexed on google. 90% of people read about your organization online before making the decision to attend a service. If you are not using a website to connect with these people you are severely limiting your ministry right from the start. Not only do you need to have a website you need to make sure its easy to use and appealing to your community. Nothing is worse than looking up an organization online to see they have a website that looks like it isn't being taken care of, and that reflects badly on the organization as a whole. They think to themselves, "If they can't keep up with a simple website, how can they keep up with everything else?"
What Can You Do?
First spend some more time on your churches branding and website, it'll pay off in the long run with more family's sitting in the pews. If you don't have the technical knowledge to complete these things yourself ask your congregation if any of them have that ability.
